Case study
Moving a live care platform off Salesforce with zero data loss
Rebuilt the core service-validation logic in Django and PostgreSQL, then led scripted migrations of ~8,000 staging and ~14,000 production records through a dry-run comparison and 5+ validation stages.

A live care-sector platform used by 50+ organizations, 300+ clinicians and 2,000+ users, matching support workers to clients by skill, location and availability. Its live operations depended on Salesforce.
The challenge
The platform's live operations depended on Salesforce. Moving them onto the in-house Django and PostgreSQL system meant rebuilding the core service-validation logic and moving live data across without duplicating or losing a record.
The migration had to be planned and executed together with the client's Salesforce developer.
The approach
Rebuild the core service-validation logic
Rebuilt the core service-validation logic from scratch in the in-house Django and PostgreSQL system, so live operations no longer depended on Salesforce.
Plan it with the client's Salesforce developer
Planned and executed the migration in partnership with the client's Salesforce developer.
Dry-run every migration first
Ran each scripted migration through a custom dry-run comparison script before real data moved.
Validate in 5+ stages
Passed records through 5+ validation stages designed to block duplicates.
Migrate in two scripted runs
Migrated ~8,000 records to staging and ~14,000 to production.
The outcome
- Live operations now run on the in-house Django and PostgreSQL system, with no dependency on Salesforce.
- ~14,000 production records migrated with zero data loss.
